LA/San Diego Firms?
I've got a 3.5 at Michigan- not really sure where that puts me exactly (median ~3.25). I don't have any good ties to California (except a brother that lives in NorCal and I lived there from age 0-7). Is it a good idea to bid SoCal or should I not risk striking out at OCI? Any firms which would give a guy like me a solid chance?

Re: LA/San Diego Firms?
Thread is relevant to my interests. Will hijack.
HLS 2L, 6/10 H's, either Law Review or Article Editor on secondary journal, PI internship, unique/quirky but non-prestigious and relatively short WE. Interested in litigation in SoCal. Drafted a tentative bid list to meet with a legal recruiter who's coming to HLS in July. Thoughts?
1. Gibson Dunn*
2. Morrison & Foerster LA
3. Irell & Manella
4. Sidley Austin
5. Latham & Watkins
6. Skadden
7. Quinn Emmanuel
8. O'Melveny & Meyers
9. Jones Day
10. Bingham McCutcheon
11. Jenner & Block
12. Kirkland & Ellis
13. Paul Hastings
14. MoFo SD
15. Latham SD
16. Akin Gump
16. Sheppard Mullin
17. Winston & Strawn
18. McDermott Will
19. Orrick
20. Proskauer Rose
21. Foley & Lardner
plus resumes by mail to Reed Smith, Morgan Lewis, and Manatt Phelps. Basically this is everywhere in LA that didn't have zero summers on NALPDirectory and that interviews at EIP (except MTO and Susman Godfrey, since I don't think I'm in contention for those, and dla piper and K&L Gates, which I understand to be horrible), but I'm curious if there are other places I should look at or if my ranking is way off.
ETA: Worth using the rest of my bids somewhere else? OCS says 20-30 for 5-6 H's, not sure what to make of that advice.

I might bump Jenner down, since they have a relatively small LA office and take few summers.Anonymous User wrote:

Thanks! Anyone else with experience in the SoCal market, or who's looking at firms there for next summer?ziggysmarley wrote:I might bump Jenner down, since they have a relatively small LA office and take few summers.Anonymous User wrote:
