Advice for Top 20% at Mason/W&L/W&M
Does anyone have any insight into what I can expect with those kind of numbers after first year at Mason/William & Mary/Washington and Lee? Is DC, Baltimore or Richmond biglaw a possibility?
Thanks a lot for the help.

GMU is not a peer of W&L or W&M...I can't really help answer the question though.

Could you compare these schools? I applied to these schools as a transfer, but don't know much about them.ndirish2010 wrote:GMU is not a peer of W&L or W&M...I can't really help answer the question though.

No comment as to where exactly I go, but I just tried to lump the three VA schools in T1 not named UVA. I know they're not all ranked exactly the same, but figured it might be comparable. If the advice would be a lot different for Mason or W&L or W&M, then what would your advice for each be? Any help would be awesome!

First, you're already anon. Secondly, if you gave the school there are still quite a few people in the top 20 percent at each of those schools. Third you're not even asking an inflammatory question. Everyone asks about the employment options at their school. Fourth, and most importantly, no one cares who you really are. If you want advice name the school, people answer and u continue on your anon way.

W&L and W&M are both low T30s (they don't place as well as some of the 'strong regional T25s,' of which GW would be the only one in the region, but they place significantly better than the 'barely T1' GMU and American.lovelaw27 wrote:Could you compare these schools? OP again.
I guess I didn't realize that Mason was in an entirely different (lower) echelon than W&M and W&L. Probably why I'm seeking advice here. In any case, I don't go to Mason. I go to W&M/W&L and am top 20% there after 1L. Thoughts?

DC is probably out. From what I've seen on here, top 20% UVA people are having trouble with DC. Do you have any connections to VA/Richmond other than going to law school in the state? I've heard it's a very insular market (and that going to UVA usually isn't enough). Same is somewhat true of Baltimore (though going to UMd should be enough). If you have ties to either, you have a decent chance.

Thanks for the response. I'm interning at a Fed. District Court this summer and grew up in the DC area. Would that change anything?ndirish2010 wrote:DC is probably out.
