anyone know how we can tell whether we received an interview via alternate or lottery? i received interviews with some firms for which i was selected as an alternate, but also ranked very high in my bid list.

Re: UVa OGI 2011 thread
If you go to Symplicity and select, under August OGI, "Employers with interviews," does anyone else get a few on the list that they weren't actually granted interviews with. For example: If I got an interview with Firm X in DC, it still lists Firm X, NY (which I also bid) in the list of employers I have interviews with, but the link isn't clickable and doesn't say "Scheduled for." Am I safe to assume I don't actually have those interviews? Is this even making any sense? Is anyone even listening to me? Bueller?

Re: UVa OGI 2011 thread
Interesting. I didn't even realize that filter was there. It looks like it just filters by employer (as opposed to by office). I had a similar situation where I bid two offices of the same firm. They preselected me for both offices, but it was a firm where we aren't allowed to interview with multiple offices, so I had to accept one and decline the other. Both are listed when I use the "with interviews" filter.Anonymous User wrote:If you go to Symplicity and select, under August OGI, "Employers with interviews," does anyone else get a few on the list that they weren't actually granted interviews with. If you don't see a "Scheduled for..." link under the "Interview Dates" tab, you don't have an interview with that office.

Yeah, I have the DC offices of 3 firms listed when I only have interviews with their NY offices. Since I didn't even bid on the DC offices for those firms, I think it's safe to say we don't actually have interviews with those offices.Anonymous User wrote:If you go to Symplicity and select, under August OGI, "Employers with interviews," does anyone else get a few on the list that they weren't actually granted interviews with. For those non-UVA 2Ls:
the final tally (before a few administrative tricks that can add a few interviews) shows the average # of interviews as 16.4. 70% of students who bid finished with 15 or more.

In that vein, what do you guys think about special request prospects this year? I think that with most people being near their limit on interviews, the number of special requests is likely to be lower, and the percentage of requests granted is likely to increase accordingly.
Anyone currently at 20 interviews thinking of dropping one or more in order to try to get some special requests?

Top 1/4. Have 16 interviews in NYC. Pretty sure i'm going to clean up with Special Requests, considering most people with my GPA probably have 20 interview.
Overall very happy.

Safe to say the whole thing was overblown and everyone can now go find something else to worry about.
Speaking of which, is there a thread about phone interview attire?

Not yet, but remember corded phones work better than cordless, and way better than cell phones. You don't want to be interviewing while the phone beeps to say it has a low battery, or to be hanging out your window for better reception.wackjickham wrote:Safe to say the whole thing was overblown and everyone can now go find something else to worry about.

It's funny... I think the average number of interviews increased for the class of 2013, but so did the average amount of whining about the system/economy/God.

I had nothing from preselects/alternates, and I got between 5 and 8 from the lottery. Shit, Donovan's email had put me at ease and now I feel completely fucked.

5 to 8 from the lottery actually seems pretty good. I only picked up 4 from the lottery.Anonymous User wrote:I had nothing from preselects/alternates, and I got between 5 and 8 from the lottery. Shit, Donovan's email had put me at ease and now I feel completely fucked.

I picked up 4 pure lottery, 3-4 alternates that could have been lottery or alternate, not sure which though.
