called hr recruiter the wrong name in an email: help!
i sent my application materials to the hr recruiter. she quickly wrote me back and asked me to answer a few questions and to find out my availability to talk this weekend. i answered her questions, included my availability, but i called her the wrong name (called her the right one in our first exchange). i wrote the answers in a separate word document and used a filler name, but i forgot to actually change it. stupid, i know.
i sent the email about an hour ago. at this point, should i send another email apologizing and pointing out the mistake or just hope that she confirms an interview time for tomorrow and then mention it then (over the phone)?

I would just say I'm sorry. Tell her you are extremely busy and you made a mistake. I'm sure it isn't the first time its happened.DavidYurman85 wrote:i sent my application materials to the hr recruiter. she quickly wrote me back and asked me to answer a few questions and to find out my availability to talk this weekend. i answered her questions, included my availability, but i called her the wrong name (called her the right one in our first exchange). i wrote the answers in a separate word document and used a filler name, but i forgot to actually change it. stupid, i know.

I would probably send a short follow-up acknowledging the mistake and apologizing. I doubt it will be big deal (hopefully not; I would think people would understand something like that, but people can be petty and sometimes in law-such as for law school admissions- these types of things do matter). But nothing you can do now about it really other than maybe send a brief email and then 'let it go.' Not sending a follow-up may be fine as well though IMO.

I think a very short email would be good
"I looked over the email I sent and realized that I called you by the wrong name! Sorry about that, looks like I'm going to need that second cup of coffee after all "
etc etc
hr people are super "fake-cheery", so I would always drown them in kindness when dealing with them

Do this, and don't forget the smiley face. Even better, get an animated smiley face off of one of those click ads on shady websites and substitute that.Anonymous User wrote:I think a very short email would be good

I would actually do this face instead, to signal playfulness:
