For texas biglaw, what is better: Duke or Texas?
Duke would be 35k more.
From Texas.
Somewhat interested in energy, but also interested in corporate
Would hate NYC or the deep south (al, mi, la) - but for texas anyways

I don't think you could really go wrong. However, I would choose Texas if you forced me to make a decision.
You might have a small bit more grade leeway from Duke, but there were also be fewer Texas firms at OCI.

I agree that you cannot really go wrong, but I'm not certain as to how much it would help to go to Duke over UT.

You should be 100% committed to the texas market if you go to texas. If there is any doubt in your mind, I would choose duke.TheThreader wrote:For texas biglaw, what is better: Duke or Texas?

My philosophy is that in this market, worry about job prospects first. Not location. Duke has a decent amount better placement for 35k more. I would take duke.

Face it, the lay-prestige of UT is still not even close to the lay-prestige of Dook, unless you're in Texas.TheThreader wrote:???????You should be 100% committed to texas

Have not gone through OCI. Do go to UT. The Texas firms recruit here, and recruit here aggressively. If you're from Texas and get top 40% you're damn near a lock for BigLaw in Texas.

Considering only 26% of Texas students had NLJ 250 jobs in the c/o 2010, you'll have to excuse me for being skeptical in thinking that top 40% isn't anywhere close to a lock. And that's not even the worst of the data to come. If the difference is only 35k total, my vote is for Duke.Anonymous User wrote:Have not gone through OCI. Do go to UT.
