OP: At least two students (that I know of) at my T2 took summer courses last year and were able to land market rate biglawl jobs in a sizable secondary market. Keep looking, but if you take summer courses and do well in them, you'll be fine. Try to tack on an RA or something substantively experiential to complement the good grades though.
ETA: disregard the substance above, though it's generally applicable to 1Ls and, to a certain extent 2Ls. OP: what have you done so far to try and get a job?

Had a bunch of interviews, but got dinged at all of them (range from firms to govt to nonprofits to judges). I've got a few applications pending at various employers, but i'm thinking at this point it's a little late in the game for this summer.patrickd139 wrote:swc65 wrote:struck out? Cosigned. Also, hit the pavement for any and all firms. Now is not the time to be prideful. Continue to work during your 3L year to maximize your chances at a full-time offer from a smaller firm.G. An unpaid volunteer position somewhere that will hire grads is the best bet. If you show enough initiative, I'm sure you can find a prosesuctor, PD's office, gov agency, or similar entity to take you on for free.
