Top 1/3 MVP; Is DC IP worth bidding on at Loyola?
Assume ties to Chicago.
I've got to big on Loyola Patent Program soon, and I want to do research before finals start because bidding is during finals.
I've got a BSEE with pretty crappy grades. But law grades at just at top third. We bid before next semesters grades come out so that's what I got to go on.
I've got reasons why I want to work in DC, but I also like Chicago. I'll take a job anyway my loans will get paid, so I'll bid on some less selective NYC firms for backup too I guess.
My question is; is bidding on DC a waste of bids and therefore dangerous. If I weren't IP I wouldn't even both, but I assume it's a little less competitive.

Loyola is preselect, so you can be a little more liberal with your bidding to see who bites. I didn't even manage to use all of my Loyola bids because I ran out of firms in my chosen city. You should be very competitive with a good school, an EE background, and good law grades. I wouldn't rule anything out this early.
I would bid liberally on DC at Loyola and see who offers you an interview, but be a little more conservative with your school bids to ensure a spot.

Rumor is that DC IP market has improved quite a bit in the past 6 months.

I'd bid.
DC IP > Chicago IP, that's for sure.

I wouldn't be opposed to a boutique that does both but my tech background isn't amazing. Lotta C's on my undergrad transcript, straight from undergrad.wiseowl wrote:Lit?
So I figure lit's the better option.
