My guess? Chri$ Chri$tie brought in some $$$$ from him and all of his cronies that graduated from there. A big portion of the USNWR rankings is alumni giving.phonepro wrote:Why did Seton Hall jump so many spots? Weird.

LOL. Makes sense. Not that any of them are good, but I doubt Seton Hall has better employment prospects than Rutgers or BLS, or even SJU. Could be wrong...keg411 wrote:My guess? Theory. Maybe U.S. News decided to look at Big Law numbers? Seton Hall does well in NJ Bil Law placements (relatively speaking).phonepro wrote:Why did Seton Hall jump so many spots? Weird.

He's the governor of my state. I can bash him if I want to. The fact that he went to $$$eton Hall is the least of the problems I have with him (the $$$ indicate the debt most Seton Hall students graduate with without a job).ksimon2007 wrote:No need to attack the Governor.keg411 wrote:My guess? Someone doesn't like union givebacks . . . (yeah, NJ is my State too; I can say the guy is doing a great job if I want to)keg411 wrote:He's the governor of my state. I can bash him if I want to. As someone educated in the NJ public school system, I'm extremely pro-NJEA. So yeah, I don't like union givebacksgabbagabba wrote:Someone doesn't like union givebacks . . . (yeah, NJ is my State too; I can say the guy is doing a great job if I want to)

But this thread is about the USNWR rankings and why SeTTTon Hall is ranked so high. I mean, neither Rutgers schools is great shakes or anything, but at least you won't go in $250k debt with no job (just $75k in debt with no job

Re: New 2011 U.S. News Rankings
Sorry to jump into the hijack. I've never understood why people buy into this line of thinking. Any teachers' union has a duty to advance the interests of teachers, not the education system. Should the interests of teachers conflict with the interests of the education system the union must side with teachers. I don't understand why people try to imply that teachers' union = education system.keg411 wrote:As someone educated in the NJ public school system, I'm extremely pro-NJEA. So yeah, I don't like union givebacks(I'm also very pro-players in the current NFL labor situation, which I think is a total sham by the owners). Also, I was quoting a poster who I'm pretty sure is not from NJ.

St. John's went way down in the rankings from 72 to 95! Now Hofstra is ranked 84, so does that mean that Hofstra is now considered a better school than St. John's?

Re: New 2012 U.S. News Rankings
Rankings are volatile. Next year, it is very possible that it reverses again so St. Johns is ranked higher than Hofstra. Don't worry so much about yearly changes. Job prospects will be the same at both schools, regardless of which is ranked higher. At that high up in the rankings, it really doesn't matter anyway.BCLS wrote:they both sucklawfreak wrote:St. John's went way down in the rankings from 72 to 95! Re: New 2012 U.S. News Rankings
How do the rankings affect job prospects? I am debating between Cardozo ranked at 50, so is now tier 1, but with no scholarship money and Hofstra ranked at 84 tier 2, with 25k a year. Is there much of a difference between the 2?

Re: New 2012 U.S. News Rankings
Didn't this thread of yours answer this question satisfactorily? The odds of getting a job that can pay off Cardozo sticker are stacked against you. Hofstra will be less, but job prospects are even worse. Do not bank on doing better at Hofstra because it is lower-ranked. You will not be the only person there who picked Hofstra over better schools for the money thinking that very same thing.lawfreak wrote:How do the rankings affect job prospects?
