Salary advance for Vault firms the rule or the exception?
Summering with a Vault firm and still have almost no details about the program. Is receiving an advance to defray rent and such the norm for Vault firms?

It seems common amongst V15ish firms in NYC, at least this year, but I haven't heard of it at all outside of that context.

I just have to hope that my firm is doing this. Hard to imagine how I'll finance the transition otherwise.Anonymous User wrote:I have heard of a number of firms offering salary advances this year.

Is it weird to ask for the summer advance if you are summering in the city where you also attend law school? Seems like it's designed to help people pay relocation expenses, security deposits, etc.

To the extent that they offer it, I don't see why they would care. They're not actually expending additional funds on the transaction.Anonymous User wrote:Is it weird to ask for the summer advance if you are summering in the city where you also attend law school? But how is Michael Clayton supposed to finance his dead-beat brothers restaurant debt?G. T. L. Rev. wrote:For 2L SA? Absolutely not. If they hire you for post-grad, full time work, then most firms will give you either a stipend or a salary advance for post-3L summer.Anonymous User wrote:Summering with a Vault firm and still have almost no details about the program.
