Stupid Question Re:BlackBerry and Summer Associateship Forum

Does anyone know whether most firms let you keep the BlackBerry or take it back at the end of the summer? I'm assuming the former is true, but I was debating getting a new phone, and I might hold off if it's the latter, since I know the firm I will be with this summer provides each SA with a BlackBerry.

Most companies treat corporate phones as company property, and force you to return them when you upgrade or leave...I imagine firms are similar...

You give it back. Worse part, having two phones all summer that you keep on your person all the time - it's hard carrying all that money and two phones around but hey I'm all about the sacrifice!

And even if you didn't, you should have no intentions of making ANY personal calls or texts on the the firm Berry while you are an SA. E-mail and blackberries, etc. are firm property and subject to random inspection, search, etc. No reason to have anything personal flowing through a firm device while you are being considered for a full-time job..

Ran here and left disappointed. This is actually not a stupid question. I expected a successor to the thread choosing between firms based on which ones were offering their summers the Pearl.

Depends on the firm. I summered last year at a firm where a SA left his BlackBerry in a cab after an event because he was completely trashed. Still got an offer.
