FBI hires both lawyers as lawyers, and lawyers as agents. CIA has office of general counsel, and I assume ICE does as well.
But, I think it would be hella frustrating to be a back-office lawyer at a supercool agency, while the agents go out and do all kinds of cool stuff

Yea that's what I'm saying..why would a person wanna be a lawyer for them? I mean nothing against being a lawyer for Uncle Sam (was thinking about JAG back in the day) but doing it for the FBI or CIA?
