USPSing Resumes on November 30th
Hey so I decided based on recommendation of my OCS to mail resumes to firms for 1L. I am planning to mail them out on November 30, as I believe this will satisfy NALP guidelines (the firms will receive the contact from me on Dec 1 or later). I am kind of confused about dating the cover letter. Dating it with Nov 30 sounds weird, kind of like I am breaking the rules. Dating it with Dec 1 sounds kind of bad too, cause the envelopes will be postmarked Nov 30. Please advise????

I don't have an answer for your question. But seriously, don't USPS your resumes... it's just a waste of money and time.

how do you know it is a waste of time? Did emailing yield a better response?

+1. Having your resume there on Dec. 1 vs. leaving your house on Dec. 1 is not going to help you get a job. The managing partner isn't going to pick up your resume and say "Oh shit, first resume I received, he's HIRED!"amyLAchemist wrote:Unless instructions otherwise, e-mail firms, USPS judges. And don't mail till Dec. 1.

Date your letters Dec 1st. They're not going to check the postmark.

As long as you make a good faith effort to comply with the December 1 rule--which at this point you have--you are fine. Being formalistic about 11/30 vs. 12/1 is just silly.
Also, if your CSO is telling you to mail on November 30, then they should already have an answer for your question about how to date the letters.
