After CB thank you note -- to the screening interviewer?
Wise or unwise? She happens to be the hiring partner.

Did you meet with her again? (Some firms set you up with a brief meeting with your screener.) If so, just say it was nice seeing her again and you really enjoyed visiting her office. Thanking her would be weird if you didn't meet her again.

At our school, thank you notes are mandatory after screening interviews as a condition of participating in OCI. Until very recently (last year), our school had a policy of thank you LETTERS, not just note cards. At a career roundtable event recently, this question was asked of a panel of well-known local attorneys. The person who answered the question first got this "ugh, kids" look on her face and then said, with an exasperated tone, "Thank you notes? ALWAYS."
I really think there's some variance in this from market to market. In my market, which is Southern, mid-sized, and old-fashioned, in which brides get disowned if their thank-you notes aren't written within a month of the bridal shower, I wouldn't be caught not writing a thank you note. But YMMV, especially if you're somewhere else.

I was supposed to see my screener again at my CB, but a call came up that he had to be in on so I never got to meet with him again. Sent him an email thanking him for having me out to the office and saying how much I enjoyed meeting with everyone there. Offered by screener 3 days later, and probably going to be taking that offer. Also, was at a NYC firm.Anonymous User wrote:Did you meet with her again? (Some firms set you up with a brief meeting with your screener.) If it sounds sincere and you don't think your screener was so cynical that he'd think it was obnoxious, I don't think it necessarily hurts all that much. Don't know if it helped me, but it didn't hurt me.
