I got a stock rejection letter from a firm a few days after a screening interview (where I seemed to connect with the interviewer pretty well). Fast forward a few weeks later, and I get a letter saying they reviewed my materials more carefully and want me to strongly consider applying for a permanent position next year.
Any advice on how I should proceed from here? Should I attempt to finagle my way into their summer program this year? I'm going to be in their town in a couple of weeks and thought about trying to set up a meeting.
