honestly, don't believe a word anyone says until you have an offer in hand. I'd say your chances are unknowable from the outside, just as they would be if no one said anything about "your desk," etc.

For some reason, this kind of thing happens in interviews across all industries. I think the common thread is that non-professional interviewers don't know what else to talk about, so they just start talking about what it would be like if you got hired. Like the poster above said, you can't read anything into it.
