Is it too late to mass mail right now?

Does Mass Mailing still have a chance to hit the biglaw right now? Any thought or experience?

I think it can. But the more I read and post on these OCI threads, the more I think I'm the minority as an optimist.

It'll depend hugely on your resume, transcripts, and cover letter. But I don't think it's too late until firms have ceased doing CBs and ceased extending offers.

It will be soon if you don't stop procrastinating. I would get on it now.

never too late to mass mail anything, you can mass mail till the day you die - you increase the probability of finding a job, and if there's something else you can do instead of spending time mass-mailing that increases your probability higher - you're not behaving optimally, in which case you should do that other thing instead of mass-mailing. Some things in that category could be targeting contacts, targeting firms where you went to elementary school, targeting firms who do the type of work you want to do, targeting firms that have a large presence of your law school, etc.

If you're done with those steps, mass mail away till you land a job.

This is a dumb procedural question about mass mailing (assuming you do it via email) but do you attach a cover letter as a document, or do you include it in the body of the email you send to the firm? If you attach it separately, what do you include in the body of the email?

Check each firm's site about what they require. Always cover letter and resume. Normally, transcript. Sometimes, writing sample and references.

Address it to the legal recruiting/HR person they have listed on NALP.

I attach it separately as a PDF. There are free conversion sites online.

I would just say Dear so and so, I am so and so, a 2L at whatever law school. I'm interested in your summer program for 2011. I would appreciate your time and consideration of my application. Sincerely, so and so.
