Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
Some people swear there will be another wave of callbacks while others think those people are delusional. TLS decide.

Both sides are right. There will absolutely be another wave at some firms - but it will be small enough that assuming it won't happen won't, on an individual level, often be incorrect.

Yes, they exist. The amount will vary by market. I know it is standard practice for large Chicago firms now

It has to be real. Even the most elite firms, and perhaps especially the most elite firms, can't predict with complete accuracy whether their offers will be accepted.Anonymous User wrote:Some people swear there will be another wave of callbacks while others think those people are delusional. That's why they have more callbacks than offers. I think at most firms the "wave" will happen with respect to offers, not callbacks.Kohinoor wrote:It has to be real. Obviously, this is not based on empirical data.

But firms have hard targets for their SA class. Their model, especially ITE, makes more sense to undershoot slightly on wave 1 then compensate on wave 2 rather than risk massively oversubscribing with a big wave 1.Indubitably wrote:That's why they have more callbacks than offers. Whoops. I've been making the wrong argument. I believe in the second wave of offers not callbacks.RVP11 wrote:This.Unemployed wrote:callbacks, no. Offers, yes.

There has to be a chance for a second wave of callbacks, given that 3 of the 4 firms I am waiting to hear from have done both callbacks and dings.

Or they could just be waiting to do a second round of dings (as in dinging everyone they may currently have in the "hold" group).Anonymous User wrote:There has to be a chance for a second wave of callbacks, given that 3 of the 4 firms I am waiting to hear from have done both callbacks and dings.

If there is a "hold" group, then that means there is some chance of a second wave.radek wrote:Or they could just be waiting to do a second round of dings (as in dinging everyone they may currently have in the "hold" group).Anonymous User wrote:There has to be a chance for a second wave of callbacks, given that 3 of the 4 firms I am waiting to hear from have done both callbacks and dings.

Re: Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
Several hiring attorneys I have interviewed with bemoan the "drawn out" nature of this process. This leads me to believe that if there is a second wave of CBs, it will be much smaller than the first.

Re: Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
How are you all defining "second wave"? My school's OCI ended a week and a half ago, but it seems like people have gotten callbacks from all the firms I'm still waiting on. Is the mythical second wave my only hope, or is it still early enough in the game that I could get a regular callback?

Re: Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
Firms are still doing screeners at my school for another 2 weeks. Since some schools start OCI so late, I think it's totally safe to say more callbacks are coming, depending on the firm.

Re: Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
I'm sure it happens - I doubt every firm will successfully fill its summer class from the offers it makes to the people initially called back - but I wouldn't count on getting a second-wave callback at any particular firm.

Re: Do you believe in the second wave of callbacks?
There will most likely not be a second wave of cbs. There wasn't last year and there won't be one this year. I am sorry if you are waiting on a firm, but if others have heard back and you have not, you are likely dinged. There will be the random cb or late offer made, but these will be rare. Some smaller markets hire later and have a longer hiring period, but those are generally firms you will contact on your own. Firms that come to OCI will not be doing a second wave of callbacks. Offers are more likely, but even there, it won't be substantial.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
