Chill. It will be different every week and for every candidate. I can tell you that last week a Monday CB I know got a Friday offer, but there is no reason to expect this week will be the same. Maybe the next hiring committee meeting is next week, maybe it was yesterday and your ding is in the mail.

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
Is there anyone who interviewed with Davis Polk last Tuesday or later who has received an offer yet?

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
I interviewed last Tuesday and heard on Thursday. I have a friend who interviewed last Friday and heard yesterday. I also know people who interviewed almost two weeks ago and haven't heard anything. Maybe they have some people they fast track and others they wait on?Anonymous User wrote:Is there anyone who interviewed with Davis Polk last Tuesday or later who has received an offer yet?

Does "hearing back" imply an offer, or are some people getting dings?
Thanks for the information, btw. It is therapeutic in some weird way.

I think "hearing back" means it was an offer in this context.

I did my callback Monday too (oh man did I see you there?) and I'm not going to worry until next Monday.

Had my callback Thursday and still haven't heard back. DPW is notorious for its relatively low CB/offer ratio so I'm not terribly optimistic even though I'm from HYS.

The data Harvard gave us from the last couple years suggests that it is about 50%. I would assume that it is similar for Y/S.Anonymous User wrote:DPW is notorious for its relatively low CB/offer ratio so I'm not terribly optimistic even though I'm from HYS.

Don't want to hijack this, but didn't want to start another thread either -- What should I expect when I go in for the callback? Recruiting said they won't give any information beforehand, but logistically, how does it work? Thanks.

2 partners, 2 associates. You go into the waiting area, and there will probably be other candidates there. Someone from recruiting will come and give you a tour, and then take you to your first interviewer. I interviewed with 2 partners and 2 associates, and I can't remember if they gave me the list of the people I was meeting with beforehand or after.

^^ This is credited.
They had resumes and transcripts already, so they didn't ask for anything else.

Got offered yesterday by phone.
Ironically enough, I was the poster who was "not terrible optimistic".

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
I can confirm based on personal experience that it depends. I have heard of one candidate getting the call sooner than another who interviewed earlier. I don't know how their process works, but there appears to not be a "regular" - no one time they committee meets, no standard time frame between CB and offer, etc. I've heard of it taking as long as roughly one week, and I have heard of many sooner. Good luck to everyone.

Re: Davis Polk offers thread
I can confirm based on personal and second hand experience that it isn't working that way this year, or at least that there are some decisions being made which cannot fit with the stated process. Without speculating or revealing too much, I just know of decisions being rendered on multiple different days in a given week, with wide variation in the time between CB and decisions, and no discernible pattern (it's like a logic game) that would point to a certain day in the week that the committee met.NYAssociate wrote:If I remember correctly from last year, the committee meets once a week. Your decision is made at that meeting. If not all the evaluations were submitted to the committee before the meeting, it will be raised at the next meeting (assuming the evaluations are submitted before then; if not, rinse and repeat).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
