bidding on multiple offices of the same firm

Post by shmoo597 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 4:41 pm

I can see why it is bad form to bid on two offices of the same firm that are way far apart - like SF and NYC.

But what about offices that are right next door to each other, like palo alto and SF? If I want to maximize my chances in the bay area, does it make sense to bid on both the palo alto and SF offices of a given firm?

I bid on both the Sacramento and SF offices of several firms using this logic.

Many firms with two offices in the Bay allow you to summer at both locations. I dont see why applying for both will hurt you, especially if you want to do IP law.

Yea, sorry for bumping this topic - right after posting, I realized there were already some threads on this.

BWV, granted, SF and SV firms may do different things, but they also do many of the same things. Given that they are the same firm, in the same geographic region, I don't think there is much downside to bidding on both so long as you are aware of any glaring differences in the work each office does.
