What # of interviews will reasonably assure you of a job?
I have 19 interviews at a T50 school, and I'm a slightly above average interviewer. Also above average attractiveness and have some interesting things on my resume. Should I be cautiously optimistic?

I would think you should be irrationally fearful.

Re: What # of interviews will reasonably assure you of a job?
I have:
45 screening interviews (30 of which I've already done via LPIP and OCI)
6 CBs (2 of which I've already gone on)
4 dings
0 offers
I'm still nervous about getting a job. I've been somewhat ill throughout this whole process and because of this I haven't been able to prepare as well as I would have liked to for my interviews.

I don't think you should take anything for granted, especially in this economy.

T14, top 15% (better first semester grades than second), non-EE technical background.Anonymous User wrote:Wow... grades and school?Anonymous User wrote:I have:

Here is what I think:Anonymous User wrote:So you think more likely than not I won't get a job?disco_barred wrote:No.
Interviews mean absolutely nothing. It was a bit more useful when you posted your school and rank, but seriously, just saying "I have ____ interviews should I be comfortable?" I will always answer no. The Yallies are getting 10-15. You have 19, I'm sure you will get Wachtell!!!! It just doesn't work that way. Firms often select substantially more candidates than they can hire, and GPA is huge but personality, experience, pedigree, interview skills, and geography are super important too. Are you a 20 year old Wyoming native interviewing with 19 DC firms that each have an average summer class size of 2 students? Are you a 30 year old fund manager from Harvard interviewing with 19 NYC firms that each hire more than 60-70 summer associates?
You can't fucking tell a single thing by "number of interviews." You have 19 interviews. Good luck! Nobody ITE is assured of anything. The closest you can come is top of your class at a good school. Everyone else needs to sweat it out, TLS can't assuage your fears. This is the process, it is what it is.

I have 27 Screening Interviews (OCI and Mass Mail) and I'm pretty sure I'm getting nothing (T14 Slightly above Median).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
