Sorry didn't see this before I made another thread.

Top 10%, secondary journal, 21 interviews. Dinged by Debevoise, Jones Day, MOFO, Arnold & Porter etc.

How'd everyone else do? Does anyone know if you can tell whether they selected you or whether you got the interview via the bid system?

No one knows how to check in Symplicity whether you got the interview through the lottery system?

Once you accept a preselect, if it is the lottery bid it will say "Lottery bid accepted"

Weird, I don't think we have any sort of acceptance process. The interviews are just listed under the "scheduled interviews" tab, I didn't have to accept any of them.

I honestly have no idea whether all schools use the same Symplicity system. I don't go to Fordham though so perhaps it works differently for me?

You guys are making me jealous! I'm away from my computer right now, and can't look! What time did they start to post? The official date is Friday at 1pm, I believe. For those who have interviews already, can you opt in yet? I know that process is supposed to start on Friday, but have people also been able to do that early?

you can opt in

top 25%/secondary

13, but only 5 of top 10. I get the feeling i barely missed out on at least couple (like number 3). The overall number is what I expected. probably 2-5 preselects, guessing

My guess is that you had more preselects than you think, maybe 5-8. I'm friends with someone who got low grades, but is doing OCI for the experience. They got 4 interviews, all most probably from the lottery.

You can opt-in for a chance to interview at a firm you were dinged by in case a slot opens if someone cancels their interview.

Also just above top quarter + secondary journal. I got 11. Better than I expected, given my UG background. I was nervous it would send employers fleeing for the hills at autobahn speeds. I think five were preselects, because there was a gap of several firms between the top picks I got, and the five further down that granted me interviews. I'm a little bit shocked at the thought that I actually got preselects, and I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I am grateful and happy at this turn of events.

What's the average number of interviews for someone say at 33 vs. 25 vs. 10?

Also, where do you think we can safely assume preselects start on our bidlists (anything ranked higher than ten?)?

Does anyone know how many lottery picks people got on average, and what determines this? I have heard from friends getting anywhere from two to four, but these are just educated guesses based on where their preselected firms were ranked.

My guess from talking to people is somewhere between 3-6. Really not sure though...

Did you bid on too many v20 firms? Don't worry I'm sure you'll get something :)

does anyone know how this compares to last year
with this very limited sample it seems like 10% ~19 25% ~12 50% ~5?

So what sort of chance do we have with our lottery interviews? Are they just courtesies to us (or more likely, to the school) or if we can wow them with our sparkling personalities do we have a shot?

Also, I somehow got a preselect with a firm in a state I've never been to before. Any advice how to show interest in the market? Should I say my fiance is from there even though she's from Kalamazoo?

It does matter. Should we focus our energies on our preselect interviews, rather than wasting time on firms that may have already mailed us a ding?

It's inconceivable that it would take more than an hour to do all of the prep you need for any interview - however your school assigns them. Get the work done and do it right each and every time. (before the off-topic angst begins, I'm now bowing out of this thread)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
