Hi everyone,
Due to a combination of personal circumstances and the logistics of bidding, I have very little time left to shore up my bid list for my school's (T10, not Berkeley or Stanford) fall recruitment program. It dawned on my literally late last night that I'd be interested in some tech firms in Cali / pacific northwest. I don't have a background sufficient to do IP, but I realized I might actually quite enjoy doing corporate work for Google, MS, and the other big boys out west.
Thing of it is, since I've never had this thought before, I've done almost no research. And it's a bit harder to come across, because I get the impression that unlike NYC or DC or Chicago there's not one city where all of these companies/firms are located. And hell, for all I know, they might be hiring NYC firms to do that kind of work anyway.
So since time is very short for me and I didn't have much luck trying to stitch the info together, I was hoping a kind soul on TLS might be willing to write down some thoughts from their own research about what the top firms are, where the work is, anything I wrote here that might be totally off-base, etc. It would be much appreciated.
For the purposes of stats, I'm doing well enough at my school that there shouldn't be any firm that isn't worth a bid. And in terms of connections, they are weak but real enough I don't think I would be wasting the bids. It won't be my entire bid list, just maybe a handful which I could continue researching in the event I am extended an interview.
Thanks much TLS.

Any silicon valley firm is worth talking to. I interviewed at the Palo Alto Mofo last year and it was all about IP. Most of the attorneys had hard science degrees in addition to law. Wilson Sonsini and Quinn Emanuel (Redwood City) might also be worth checking out. My impression based on interviews is that SF firms outside the city itself have more of an IP focus.
