They did better than the normal class, yet another sleazy tactic used by our school to exaggerate our job prospects.

Uncalled for and unnecessary.

2 CBs / 21 screeners. My screeners were in 3 different cities in about equal proportions; this strategy seems not to have maximized my CBs because 2 of the 3 cities take relatively small SA classes. My 2 OCIP CBs were in the least selective of the 3 cities but oddly with highly ranked firms in that city, while I got rejected from lower ranked firms in that city.

I'd rate my overall OCIP experience a C-. Of course, that could quickly change if one of those CBs turns into an offer.

I'd imagine the overall transfer experience at OCIP was somewhat better than mine. I may have been disadvantaged by a lack of CA ties at a school where a great deal of employers are from CA.

how is that "sleazy"? I don't follow your logic, elaborate? I take it you have a problem with Berkeley's transfer policy.

Even if it is "sleazy," I'm not sure how it exaggerates Berkeley students job prospects, unless by "our" you mean non-transfers. I'm pretty sure I got the job I got based on the fact that I now have ties to California with Berkeley on my resume.

I have no problem with transfers. It's just the school should have told us that non-transfer employment and OCIP prospects are exaggerated by the higher transfer success rate. People admitted to Boalt now deciding whether to go are looking at OCIP numbers better than reality, because the incoming class will do WORSE than those numbers.

The bigger problem really about Boalt's OCIP is the grading system, which would be OK in the pre-2008 economy, but now grade conscious employers are left guessing at Boalt, whereas they can go to another T14 school where they have a better idea where students stand. My OCIP was OK, but I just feel like a lot of people who performed at median with all Ps (true median students, yet worst student at Boalt under our system) got totally screwed.

Transfer here. 5 CBs, 1 offer but it was a big one, so I'm thrilled. Two years of good work experience.

So Boalt's Careers webpage just posted some job stats. For the class of 2012, of those who CHOSE TO REPORT / ANSWER THE SURVEY (and I cannot emphasize this point enough), 108 people are working at firms. I know this is by no means complete, because two friends of mine who are at big firms are not on the list (they obviously didn't respond to summer employment surveys/emails). I have no idea how many additional people are at firms, but this is the information I do have.
