3.34 at St. John's
I recently finished my 1L at SJU law. I did much better first semester than second semester. I had a 3.52 after the fall, which put me in the top 14%. Now I have a 3.34. Ranks haven't been released yet, so I really don't know where I'll end up. I haven't heard back yet about law journals, and the moot court competition is still in progress. I have excellent work experience (law firm and in-house). We have some big firms coming to do OCI, but not many. Am I screwed over because of the drop in grades?
I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

After more than 5,000 posts and 1L behind you, do you really think the elitist vultures on this site are the best source of advice for your question?
Good luck to you, and congrats on the very good grades so far.

You wont' get a job out of OCI. Sorry, it's not going to happen. It was a longshot even with your 1st semester grades. You need new plan. Pound the pavement. Network your arse off. Cast your net wide.

If you give sensitive information that could be used to identify you, as this poster has done, then it's good to post anonymously. Otherwise his potential employers could use his 3.34 at St.Johns to find out his username here. They could then comb through his posts and might find something they don't like.shutterbug wrote: Aah - got it. Thanks. What's up with the anonymous when we're all using monikers of some kind anyway?

Check SJU's OCI results from last year, and talk to the people who received jobs. If their GPAs are far higher than yours, then it may appear you're out of luck. If their GPAs are comparable, ask them what they did to get those jobs.

This is not true, median is 3.16. Top 1/3 was between 3.3-3.4Desert Fox wrote: Median is 3.3
