B-plus avg (~Top 33%) at Fordham. What are my OCI chances? Forum

I'd bid on any firms that don't "prefer" candidates that are in the top 25%. In an NYC OCI program , ITE, I doubt you have that many options.

Well, a B+ average wouldn't be bottom 33% at any school in the country by a long shot, so the context makes it obvious. There's no common parlance, but your percentile rank is pretty meaningless at most schools once it's under 50, so...

Top third at the third best LS in New York, let alone all the T14 people trying to get into the NYC market. Good luck. You'll need it.

In a better economy, your rank would probably be enough. Now, I doubt it. Bid as conservatively as possible. Ask your CSO for recommendations. Fordham's CSO is supposed to be pretty good, I understand.

Accurate re: past placement and speculation about this year's OCI. OP, you should go to "Getting to 35". There is another one next week, and I hear it's supposed to be helpful.

Also, I think I am the last person at Fordham not to have grades.

What are the expected grade cutoffs for the different levels of V100 and ALJ 250 that are coming to Fordham's OCI?

Assuming good bidding, I figure top 10% and anyone on LR can get a V100 job. then maybe half the people inside the top 25% or 33% could get something through OCI. that would be 17-26% of the class getting jobs through OCI which seems reasonable to me.

Also, I'm a non-trad of sorts. About 30, with a ph.d. in an anthropology-type field. Any thoughts how this will help/hurt me?

haha, I know just as much as you, man. That was just off the top of my head anyway. I don't think anyone can be comfortable, even a LR person could bid badly or end up no-offered after the summer. No one is safe, but it seems you have at least some chance. Your age/phd probably won't matter one way or the other, although any given interviewer could like/dislike it.

My initial post answered Mr. Kappus' question, which was whether OP was talking about top or bottom 33%. [edit: the title did not originally contain "top"]

At least from what I have observed from tls, this is no different from many mid/lower T14 schools where most students not in top 33% won't get offers from OCI.
