3.41 at GULC w/ WE... thoughts on bidding?
Thought I would jump on the bid-advice bandwagon. Any help would be appreciated.
Other info:
-- Deans list last year (top 1/3)
-- Would like to head to TX (Austin ideally, but Houston and Dallas are more realistic).
--- Family lives in Dallas, w/ strong ties to Austin.
--- Staying in DC would also be ok (or heading anywhere I can get a job, really... not NYC, though)
-- 5 Years of federal law enforcement/counterintelligence background (special agent)
-- Air Force officer
-- Married w/ 3-yr-old daughter
-- Looking for good QOL firm (considering Haynes and Boone, etc). Prestige is less important.
Thanks in advance!

OP here. I'm a rising 3rd year evening student, so I got placed on the curve last summer (I don't believe they do it again after our second year, since half the PT students transferred to FT). Top 1/3rd was 3.39 last year (I hit it right on the dot), but I don't know how much the new curve effects things.bwv812 wrote:People are probably going to need to know where 3.41 places you under the new curve.
I'd be interested in knowing if CS has given you any ideas/suggestions, either.
I have a telephonic appt w/ OCS on Friday, so I'll let you know what they say. They just want me to have a bid skeleton going into the meeting so they have something to analyze, which is why I'm coming here.

OP here. OCS wasn't very helpful, so I could use a little help. Here's a really unsophisticated, rough start to my bidding.
1. Haynes and Boone (Austin, Houston, Dallas)
2. Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP (Austin, Dallas, Houston)
3. Jones Day (Dallas, Houston)
4. V&E (Dallas)
5. Baker Botts (Dallas)
6. Fried, Frank (DC)
7. hogan lovells (DC)
8. Latham (Houston)
9. Mayer Brown (Houston)
10. hogan lovells (McLean)
11. Latham (DC)
12. Morgan, Lewis & Bockius (Houston, Dallas)
13. Patton Boggs (Dallas)
14. Wilson Sonsini (Austin, DC)
15. McDermott Will & Emery (Houston)
16. Baker Hostetler (Houston)
17. Dechert (Austin)
18. Dorsey & Whitney (Minneapolis) --> Wife would like to move there...
19. Bryan Cave (DC)
20. Alston & Bird (Dallas)
21. Cadwalader (DC)
Any advice/experience/feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Not really related to anything but just thought I'd say that you have a really cool background! Good luck with OCI!

Geez, man, why don't you tell us your social security number also? Have any noticeable scars? Can you post your dental records?
Might seem far-fetched, but you may want to think about preparing for interview questions such as "So, if you are as interested in working here as you say, how come you ranked us #20?"

Someone's a bit paranoid. Firms will google your name and bring up your facebook profile. They won't hire a private investigator to hunt around the interwebz looking for clues to the real identity of anonymous message board posters.Might seem far-fetched, but you may want to think about preparing for interview questions such as "So, if you are as interested in working here as you say, how come you ranked us #20?"
