Volunteer = very good chance. SLIP/paid = possible. Go ahead and apply. Application/effort is worth it, IMO.
Any prior government work?
/speculation.
Good luck.
Any prior government work?
Probably not unless it's T14 or T30+ in same location as DOJ/SEC office (DC or regional).thexfactor wrote:Does transfering up help my chances?

Re: Chances of getting a DOJ or SEC 2L summer position
I just saw this thread and was interested so I hope you don't mind if I ask about myself as well. I'm very interested in working for the SEC in DC (or a regional office) either after 1L or 2L. I have a Master's in Accounting, taking CPA now, and will be starting at Northwestern in the Fall. Unfortunately, my only prior work experience is a couple summer internships (one being Big 4). What do you guys think?

Hmm ok. I am looking to transfer to washu, ucla, gt or michigan. I dont think i have a very good chance at michigan. I think i have a shot at ucla and gt. Based off of previous numbers, I think i am looking good at washu.ggocat wrote:Volunteer = very good chance. SLIP/paid = possible. Go ahead and apply. Application/effort is worth it, IMO.

Hard to tell how UCLA and WUSTL will affect your chances. Also, I misspoke earlier. Of course any move up should increase your chances, but I don't think a move up to a non-T14 outside the region you want to practice would make a huge difference.thexfactor wrote:Hmm ok.
