When do 1L summer gigs usually start?

Post by corporatelaw87 » Wed May 19, 2010 1:13 am

Do they start in late May, early June? I'm a 0L, just curious as to the time in between finals and starting work. Thanks.

If it's unpaid (as nearly all are) you generally have some flexibility. If it's paid, or you're at a school that offers a stipend, 10 weeks is pretty standard.

Thats what I was hoping to hear. Im doing a JD/MBA program with my first year in the law school and the second in the business school. The MBA program doesnt start till September, which leaves me over a month before I have to start worrying about school again. If I were to take a long vacation after my 1L summer gig would this hurt me?

haha....oh so true. I definitely want to get some traveling in before I graduate though and I think it would be good for my mental health to have some time off before the MBA program. I worked all though college and worked 60 hour weeks while studying for my LSAT and GMAT. Im due for a break and have the money set aside from working for a little vacay. We will see how long i can scrape the bottom of the barrel during my 1L year/summer to continue to save money for a vacation though.
