LOL...I didn't know they are paying freshly minted physicians $10 an hour too. This is the legal equivalent of the medical school graduate's residency experience.

I actually sat down with a friend who's a resident once and we calculated his hourly rate, and it was about that.janderson wrote:

Meh -- I have a friend who works at one of the large Wall Street banks, and his first-year analyst rate figured to something like $6/hour. It's not because he is compensated poorly; it's because they work insane hours. Attorneys and physicians encounter the same phenomenon.

This is short sighted on the firms part. They are going to train this lawyer then they will bolt the second they can.

$6/hour x 90 hours a week x 52 weeks = $28,080
Large Wall Street banks pay a lot more than 28k. And even analysts don't work 90 hours a week.

Yeah, that's not accurate at all. The bastard done fibbed to me (and I didn't fact-check).

They aren't going to give them any training. It's a contract doc review/paralegal job dressed up in fancy language.Desert Fox wrote:This is short sighted on the firms part. They are going to train this lawyer then they will bolt the second they can.

From UIUC's College of Education no less. Converted to real GPA that is a 3.0.

I think I made $10 when I was 16 working as a busser at a chinese restaurant. I started at a hotel doing front desk work at $12/hour, at $14.50.rayiner wrote:The last time I made that little was right out of HS.

I think the $6 figure would be after taxes and probably after COL expenses.JSUVA2012 wrote:I don't believe this.clintonius wrote:Meh -- I have a friend who works at one of the large Wall Street banks, and his first-year analyst rate figured to something like $6/hour. Re: attorneys now being paid $10/hr.
Maybe. But factoring in commute, rent and food is kind of unfair. Lots of people would be claiming they make $0.27/hour if all we're looking at is disposable income.nycparalegal wrote:I think the $6 figure would be after taxes and probably after COL expenses.JSUVA2012 wrote:I don't believe this.clintonius wrote:Meh -- I have a friend who works at one of the large Wall Street banks, and his first-year analyst rate figured to something like $6/hour.
