1L summer with Senior Status district judge
Is it a bad thing to work with a district judge who is senior status for 1L summer? it seems like it would be a good job, but I'm just worried that there won't be enough to do.
However, maybe I'm overblowing the situation. His Honor does 75% case load, and I imagine I would still be as busy as the typical 1L intern with a District Judge. If anyone has input or experience here I'd appreciate it!

I interned for a federal district judge in college and have since kept in touch with him. His Honor is still kicking ass with a full case load & has two clerks. So I'm guessing you'll still have plenty to do. Have a great time!

"His Honor" is a bit...stuffy. Try "the judge."
I think getting a senior status judge could only be a good thing. Generally they have very well established reputations, and reduced caseload might mean more relaxed working environment. I'm sure you'll still be getting good experience.

SS basically just means they get to be choosier with cases. If they're taking on interns, you'll still be doing nearly identical work. All systems go.

My judge this summer is a Senior judge. He has 3 full-time clerks and hires 2 of us externs, and claims to take on more work then any of the other judges in the district.

Some senior status judges have full or almost full caseloads, don't be fooled.
If he/she has 3 or 4 clerks, that's a pretty good indication that there will be enough to do.
