Jones Day
Hello,
I just got accepted at tOSU and while I was perusing about on tOSU's job prospect, I found out that it's a strong regional school. Considering the fact that Jones Day's headquarter is located in Cleveland and that it has an office in Columbus as well, what would be my chance to land a job there if I attend tOSU? They do come to the school for interviews, but I'll be competing with T14s most likely. I also read that ITE, Jones Day and other big firms are only hiring from T14 grads if at all... What's your thought on how it'll be like in 2013?

Re: Jones Day
Jones Day Cleveland/Columbus has a good relationship with Ohio State. That being said, last year Cbus only hired 3-4 summers, Cleveland very few as well, and they recruit at every single top 30 school it seems. They will probably hire 1-2 from Ohio State every year, so you have to be literally the top couple people to have a shot. But that's how it is for any big law firm.

Anecdote:
I was a paralegal at JD in DC from 2002-2004. There were a bunch of OSU grads there. Of course, that's ancient history, but maybe the trend has continued.

Of course you have a chance. Like most regional school hiring at biglaw, you will need to be high in your class (probably top 10%).
At the same time, they don't call it Jones Days, Nights, and Weekends for nothing.

Awesome, thanks for the responses! I feel relieved to hear that my goal is not too far fetched.
