1L summer unpayed internship..... 1 1/2 hours away
I have an 1L summer internship opportunity. I have no legal experience coming into 1L and the internship is in the legal fields that I am interested in, that being corporate/business law and entertainment law. The Internship will allow me to still take summer classes. I will not be getting payed, and once to two times a week I will have to drive about an hour and a half away to the office, which means about 3 hours of commuting both ways. I am very optimistic about the opportunity. Anybody out there that has been in a similar situation? Or any thoughts about my situation?

Eek, so many errors in that post that it made me cringed a bit.
Depends on your chances of getting a paid internship... If you're at a lower tiered school, not at the top of your class, etc. then your chances are probably slim and opportunity to gain experience in the field that you're interested in is better than nothing! But no pay = no play

Sorry for the errors....in a hurry between classes...I am at a lower tiered school. We don't get grades back until tomorrow. No pay = no play? I just kind of assumed that with a lack of prior legal experience, it would be hard to lock in a paid summer internship.

dude there are plenty of people in the T10 that don't have anything at all in an area they want.
you seem to have found it. seize it, and then try to find funding to make ends meet between now and then.
holding out for a paid job is not the credited response.

If someone can get me an internship less than 1 1/2 hours a way in the field I want, I will convert to any religion they choose and praise their God for it.
Take the damn internship.
Take the damn internship.

Take the internship and work part time doing something else.
If its really not financially possible, dump it. Thats not the advice a lot of people here would give you but you have other opportunities in San Diego if you look hard and remain persistent about following up with contacts.
From what I've read, not a lot of employers are especially enthusiastic about paying 1Ls for a variety of reasons (the primary one being they're basically paying to train you with no promise of return).
How about that sweet UCSD news?
