Summer Clerk Position
I am a 1L that recently got a job this summer at a BigLaw firm in a clerk position. I have to go in sometime in the next two weeks to discuss my pay, hours, etc. If they ask me (which I think they will) what kind of hourly rate I desire what would be a fair response? I was thinking around $12/hr. or so? Is this too much, too little or pretty standard? The firm is a top 10 legal market and I will be living at home (with my parents) during the time I will be working there fwiw.

Thanks. So I guess $12 would be shortchanging myself a bit then...Anonymous User wrote:I worked at a small firm (2 attorneys) over winter break and got $15/hour

Nah, it doesn't really matter. I misclicked the "Anonymous New Post" in the OP anyway.swheat wrote:anonymous user fail

Your post history suggests you are a 0L, not a 1L... which is it? That will make a pay difference

Yeah. This post doesn't make sense. If it's "Biglaw" and you are a 1L, it seems you would already know what you are going to be paid, because it would be lockstep summer associate rate, and it would likely be published on NALP.NYU2011 wrote:Your post history suggests you are a 0L, not a 1L... which is it? LOL. Yeah I was curious about the "clerkship" of a 1L in a biglaw firm.Renzo wrote:Yeah. This post doesn't make sense. No. For an 0L $12 is fairly generous.MU2009 wrote:Thanks. So I guess $12 would be shortchanging myself a bit then...Anonymous User wrote:I worked at a small firm (2 attorneys) over winter break and got $15/hour

I worked at a biglaw firm as an 0L for a summer doing grunt work and was paid either $12 or $12.50 an hour.
