Yeah, offers do sometimes come from Spring OCIAnonymous User wrote:Anyone from UT law know about the chances of landing something from Spring OCI--seems very late in the game but there are some big firms interviewing and I guess they wouldn't be offering interviews if there were no spots still open.
Just wanted to know if anyone has heard of the chances of getting a legit SA offer from this/want to temper my expectations.

Can confirm L&G STL, Lewis Rice, and Shook KC have made call-back calls. L&G and Shook were within 24 hours post screener.

How good does a DOJ Civil Rights Employment Litigation section internship look on your resume if you want to do labor and employment

Their field of work is rather narrow (they only do title VII cases, no general employment stuff), but I honestly can't imagine it not making you look good if you want to work in employment law--or in labor law for that matter, although technically the work DOJ CRT does has nothing to do with labor law. But I'm really just guessing here w/r/t the latter.Anonymous User wrote:How good does a DOJ Civil Rights Employment Litigation section internship look on your resume if you want to do labor and employment
ETA if you're confident you're primarily interested in labor law it'd make more sense to try and do DOL, at least in the abstract, but if you have an offer, I'd probably go with it even in that scenario. But again, I don't know much.

Yeah I understand that they don't do any labor law, I'm more interested in Employment discrimination work anyways and I haven't applied to a DOL position. Yeah I have an offer but I'm also mulling an EEOC judicial internship position.Hand wrote:Their field of work is rather narrow (they only do title VII cases, no general employment stuff), but I honestly can't imagine it not making you look good if you want to work in employment law--or in labor law for that matter, although technically the work DOJ CRT does has nothing to do with labor law. Fellow 1L caveat but from what I've heard DOJ Civil Rights is extremely tough to get (even among DOJ positions), and to the extent that there's "prestige" among 1L summer gigs, you probably won't do better, if you care about that. It's also definitely close enough in subject matter to what you want to do that I don't think it would something you'd need to justify or explain in an interview. Congrats on the amazing optionsAnonymous User wrote:Yeah I understand that they don't do any labor law, I'm more interested in Employment discrimination work anyways and I haven't applied to a DOL position. Yeah, I applied day of deadline - that might have something to do with it. And I'm sure they have a lot of great apps to choose from.PeanutsNJam wrote:Wouldn't be surprised if they filled up a long time ago.

Anybody know if Weil is done hiring? I got an odd email from them saying thanks for applying and telling me about an upcoming reception at my school but I never got denied or heard anything since I submitted my app.

Yeah I applied to a ton of LCLD stuff in late Jan, which I'm pretty sure is too late since I hear lots of offers have gone out already, but why don't I have rejection mail yet? D=

2L here: If you applied to the in-house positions as well, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know much about the firm timeline, but I was in-house LCLD last year and had radio silence for about a month before going screener -> offer several weeks later.PeanutsNJam wrote:Yeah I applied to a ton of LCLD stuff in late Jan, which I'm pretty sure is too late since I hear lots of offers have gone out already, but why don't I have rejection mail yet? Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
So just discovered a typo in the cover letter template that I've been using since I started applying. Instead of "I intend to pursue a career in commercial litigation" it says "I intend to pursue a career commercial litigation". How much has this probably hurt my job search? Do employers even read them? Would they notice? Is this why I've been striking out or is it 1 of my many other flaws?

Similar typo in my cover letter, still got CBs, but I also know for a fact it was a reason for a post-screener ding at at least 1 firm. Best not to have typos.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
Any white doods having success in NYC? I pulled down a 4.0 at DCN and mass mailed the V100 about three weeks ago. I'll gotten is a lot of dings and a few "we have your materials under consideration" emails. I know I was super late and wasn't really hoping for anything, but I had hoped to get some interest just based on grades. Also re typos in cover letters I may replaced only the firm instead of your firm in my template with the name of a certain V5 firm. So yeah i'm a moron
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
