OCIJ BIA finalist #18. No references contacted, no offer. Could not be more miserable waiting for the phone to ring.

Re: DOJ Honors 2013
My references were contacted before Thanksgiving. But I had to contact them and give them updated information because they notified me that 1 of my references had recently switched jobs. I gave them his new contact info and then a couple others if they couldn't get in touch. As of last week, 1 of my references said he hadn't yet responded.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Congrats! Component?

For those who have had references contacted, did you references tell you who contacted them? Was it someone from OARM or was it someone from OCIJ?

Are there any current EOIR clerks out there? If so could you PM me? I would love to get a little more information. Thanks!

Re: DOJ Honors 2013
I'm pretty sure it's people from the component - whoever interviewed you - who contact references. At least, it was for me, in part because they had actual questions about me as a candidate that they wanted answered. It wasn't an EOIR component, but I'd think if it were OARM they'd do it for all the components.Anonymous User wrote:For those who have had references contacted, did you references tell you who contacted them? Congratulations to all who have received an offer! I received mine last week (OCIJ), it was one of my top 5 locations. For those who have received offers, has anyone received any emails or mail regarding the next steps? Thanks!

They told me that I wouldn't receive anything until I emailed them and formally accepted. So if you've already formally accepted, then I guess it is a waiting game.Anonymous User wrote:Congratulations to all who have received an offer! PM me with questions about the program if you wish.

Current clerk, in my 2nd year. I'd love to talk to anyone who received an offer for my court, and I know I'm not the only clerk who feels that way. When I was offered the position, I just directly called the court and asked to speak to the current JLCs. They were pretty helpful and glad to talk to me. If you want more info, just call the court and ask if you can speak to one of the law clerks. It might seem awkward to do this, especially if you're shy, but calling to ask us for advice is encouraged!Anonymous User wrote:Are there any current EOIR clerks out there? If so could you PM me? Not sure which finalist I was but I received my offer last Wednesday, Southeast region. All of my references were checked the week before Thanksgiving. Also, if any of you are worried that the component is unable to reach your references they will call you directly. An email to one of my references bounced back and they called me to ask for an alternate email address. Good luck!

For those who interviewed at Chicago, are you currently in your second year of a clerkship? Were you actually admitted to a bar at the time you applied (as opposed to waiting to hear from July 2012 bar results)?Anonymous User wrote:I don't know if there's any non-immigration people left on here, but it's worth a shot: anyone hear from the Chicago USAO?
