I GOTCHYA SUCKER!!! Obviously NYC is @ 190, and it's just a speed bump on the way to 210. We're about to enter the second great era of Big Law salary increases, say goodbye to the binomial distribution and welcome the trinomial chart. The ELITE FIRMS of the WORLD will dominate their competition by SHATTERING the market!!smaug wrote:please exit this forumTheUnicornHunter wrote:Dropping the schtick for a second, I'm not even sure if I WANT firms to go to 190. While I think that the leak is probably bullshit, I'm confident that the other firms do not know that the leak is bullshit and some are probably clamoring to get the jump on the NYC to 190 train. Kind of like that time you told that girl you liked that you had other options. That worked out too, right?

Except in our scenario the girl is secretly meeting with the other girls to verify, DOJ be damned.Single-Malt-Liquor wrote:While I think that the leak is probably bullshit, I'm confident that the other firms do not know that the leak is bullshit and some are probably clamoring to get the jump on the NYC to 190 train. It only appears that way if you're comparing the distributions for different probabilities of success on the same graph. Do you even maths, bro?fats provolone wrote:a binomial distribution is bimodal by definitionbaal hadad wrote:bimodal...TheUnicornHunter wrote:I GOTCHYA SUCKER!!! My friend just told me he was talking to his dad, a partner at an uber prestigious V10, about how expensive law school was and how he was worried if it was worth it. His dad sent him this link and whispered NY to 190.

LOL, sorry; I was just as disappointed when I heard. My friend could be wrong though. shrug.El Pollito wrote:mods plsgaddockteeg wrote:FWIW, my friend at simpson thacher (2nd year associate) LA has heard nothing about htis and said its "probably not true".

Re: NY to 190k??(possibly led by Paul Weiss)
I find this unsurprising. When NYC moves to 190K, I doubt that LA will be brought along for the ride. Consider: The other major legal markets--NYC, Chicago, and SF/SV--each contain two prestigious T14 law schools. How many elite law schools does LA have? Zero. Frankly, the writing has been on the wall for years that LA is destined to become a below-market city.gaddockteeg wrote:FWIW, my friend at simpson thacher (2nd year associate) LA has heard nothing about htis and said its "probably not true".
