Which office are you interested in? Because when I was at the Houston office, they said the hiring committee meets on Wednesdays.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone heard anything from V&E? (mostly interested in post CB)

Re: 2013 UVA OGI Thread
3L here with similar grades after 1L. Where did you bid in the southeast? If you bid heavily on Atlanta, the issue there may be grades for at least some of the firms. While I know people with your grades and below that had offers there, some of the firms that UVA students typically target like K&S and A+B seem to have higher average CB GPAs.Anonymous User wrote:Looking for some support here:
3.4x, WE, bid mostly southeastern (with a few NY/DC), maxed screeners, have zero callbacks; I've gotten 7 dings so far. KD/OCS said I was good in my mock interviews, and I did about five of them.
I'm currently mass mailing and applying for most everything on Symplicity. Is there anybody else in the same boat?
If you have general ties to the southeast, you may consider expanding your search to other cities. I know a lot of those cities have insular legal markets, but if you really are as good of an interviewer as OCS says, you may be able to find a way to sell yourself to firms in those markets.
Do you have any ties to Texas? Are you from a state bordering Texas? While it is a bit later in the game, you might try mass mailing and emphasizing any ties you have. You are in the grade range for most of the Texas firms, and I know of people that got offers there with similar grades from bordering states or general southeastern ties. From what they said, the key was emphasizing how they were connected to Texas, even if their ties were somewhat tangential.
I HTH. Feel free to follow-up with any questions you have. I'm happy to answer questions or toss around ideas.

It depends. For any firm, a week or two could be standard. For some firms it can be a month or longer.Anonymous User wrote:at what point after a callback should you assume the worst?

Some firms, predominantly in the big ones in NYC, move very fast - especially at the start of the process - and every year that causes waves of panic from people who think it's normal.

My friend doesn't go to UVA, but he had a callback already. His screener interview was on the 5th of August and callback around the 20th.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard from Haynes Boone at all? Callbacks, offers, dings, anything?

I can confirm a U.Va. ding. This was probably my worst interview, so it came very quickly, like 2-3 days later.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard from Haynes Boone at all? Callbacks, offers, dings, anything?

Has anyone heard from Proskauer NY or Weil NY? Should we be contacting firms that we interviewed with during OGI and tell them that we are still interested? I don't want to start stalking firms but I am getting a little desperate for a response.
