The DPW town hall started ten minutes ago, right? Man, this is gonna be a fun meltdown when they don't announce raises.

I don't think raises will come at this town hall. With the entire firm, including support staff, it feels like a weird time to announce (unless for some reason they're planning to pay bonuses or something to support staff too).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:09 amThe DPW town hall started ten minutes ago, right? I think it'll come out today after the town hall. Or maybe it came out in a memo just before the town hall. Let's see.

Aren't people still remote? I think if it already came out in a memo someone would have posted that here already.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:22 amI think it'll come out today after the town hall. Or maybe it came out in a memo just before the town hall. Let's see.

Look, I love TLS too, but I don't necessarily think DPW associates are sitting here hitting refresh every 60 seconds. I've noticed in the past sometimes there's a 30 minute, 60 minute lag time before someone comes here and announces (though we still usually beat ATL). Keep up hope.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:24 amAren't people still remote? 7.5% YoY inflation and the monthly CPI increases aren't slowing down
At this point the Milbank raise is looking like a paycut
C'mon DPW

It's not being announced at the meeting. 3 weeks of Cravath, DPW, STB etc being below market firms.

Neil just wrapped his presentation - mentioned 7% inflation, said firm will "encourage/expect" 3/5 days a week in office starting mark, did not mention anything re: comp lol.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:09 amThe DPW town hall started ten minutes ago, right? What are the chances he and his executive committee just legitimately aren't aware that Milbank raised? Two weeks ago I know that would have sounded preposterous but I'm coming around to the idea. Has anyone thought of just e-mailing him anonymously with a link to the ATL Milbank match scorecard?

This (bolded) is a clear signal that the boomer contingent is in full control of the DPW partnership. The implications for associate comp should be obvious (viz. no re-raise).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:45 amNeil just wrapped his presentation - mentioned 7% inflation, said firm will "encourage/expect" 3/5 days a week in office starting mark, did not mention anything re: comp lol.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:09 amThe DPW town hall started ten minutes ago, right? Lol. Just curious, when he mentioned 7% inflation, what else did he say? Seems bizarre to acknowledge that and then not say anything about comp.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:45 amNeil just wrapped his presentation - mentioned 7% inflation, said firm will "encourage/expect" 3/5 days a week in office starting mark, did not mention anything re: comp lol.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 11:09 amThe DPW town hall started ten minutes ago, right? Mentioning that extent of inflation then not saying anything about comp is just sadistic. I have my hopes up for today.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:04 pmLol. Neil is setting this up to either be the greatest lead-up in biglaw history ("Let's do something about that inflation problem; match of Milbank + spring / fall bonuses from 20-100k, let's get the party started!") or the greatest "fuck you" in biglaw history ("We weren't even following market news. Sorry. We'll match Milbank, no retroactive.").

It's entirely plausible a biglaw partner is so oblivious to the real world implications of inflation (do yacht prices inflate?) that it was an observation about the state of affairs relevant to their business.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:09 pmThat is saying something about comp: it's going down.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:04 pmLol. I think DPW will announce before the weekend, including raises for non-lawyer staff in light of inflation.

Getting positive vibes from Neil's remarks. I think DPW's announcement is imminent.

The takeaway is simple. If you want top-of-the-market comp outside of Wachtell/Kirkland/lit boutique, you should go to Milbank. Vault should reflect this in the next cycle.

How? Did we watch the same presentation? The last question was about how they're combatting burnout and high attrition and Neil said that while 2020 and 2021 were high, 2022 is actually normal attrition, offering zero response lolAnonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:33 pmGetting positive vibes from Neil's remarks.
