If I know rejections have gone out for callbacks later than mine, am I in like a hold pile?

You could be. I didn't hear back from a firm for a few weeks after my callback and then eventually got an offer. I realized I was in a hold pile because the night before I received my offer I went to another firm's offer dinner and another student accepted their offer at the dinner. She was considering the other firm I was in the hold pile for and must have turned them down the next day. So it might be the case that certain firms don't want to keep too many offers outstanding at any given time.

I would say this is more likely the exception than the rule but it does happen.

Also waiting. Top 30 midwest school here. CB was ~2.5 weeks ago via Mass Mail, so either pending ding or stuck in hold pattern while they were waiting on T-14 CBs.

every firm keeps a wait list, though none of them admit it. firms pull from their wait lists all the time, so don't despair! there's a good chance you'll get that offer you're looking for
