What do we think is a reasonable estimate of the number of people without a CB yet?

I don't know many people how have just one, but I do know of a number of people with just one or two—making the odds not great for an offer.

Snail Mail ding from Sidley in Chicago. Unexpected -- I really liked them, thought the interview went well. Good luck to those with Sidley CBs!! Great place.

hahah exactly. You're right, it does sound like the BCC'd us all. Who cares, tbh I didn't like really like them, and they pay under market, so they can keep their offer. We can do better!

You know, you are right. I actually got really good advice from OCS. I guess it comes down to people not doing their due diligence.
I totally agree. Even if OCS didn't exist, there is enough information out there to figure out what you need to know and maximize the opportunities through OCI. I was dumbfounded by how ill-prepared people were or by how misguided people's strategies were.
Of those people I know who spent their time doing research and planning and had close to median or above grades and an okay personality, none are struggling. On the other side, those who I expected to do poorly after speaking with them ended up doing poorly regardless of grades (excepting maybe the LR grade-ons).
I also shared the experience of people reeling when I told them I focused on multiple markets including one without strong connections. This response really baffles me.
Nothing to be baffled about. Hunting for SA positions without regard to geographic location is at least as idiosyncratic as focusing on only one market without regard for whether or not you'll be able to land an SA position at a firm. We all have different priorities, connections, and opportunities.

Except one strategy is designed to increase the likelihood of landing a position, and the other isn't...

Do you mean to suggest that applying to more firms doesn't increase the probability of getting a job? I'd love to hear the theory on this one.

I just want an offer so I can awkwardly announce it on the listserv under the guise of giving shit away and requesting pictures of people I don't even know.

That lacks some serious judgment! And people like him/that get offers, while more mature people have no CBs. You don't need to broadcast shit to the whole law school. Jerk!
