I added two interviews, and now I regret it because I can't cancel them and my schedule is a bit stuffed. Such is life.

Re: Columbia EIP 2014
So how do we proceed if we still really want interviews a couple more places and didn't manage to get them in today's 3 minute feeding frenzy? Email recruiting? Wait for hospitality suites? Also, does the approach change with how competitive you are for a firm?
Also, is there any conventional wisdom/known trend on how being interviewed by partners as opposed to associates affects one's chances? I'm noticing that of the ones already listed, a shocking percentage of mine are with partners, often with specialties nowhere near what I'm interested in. I'm worried it may be more difficult to make a good impression in 20 minutes than with younger, more generalist associates.

Does the EIP 2013 results spreadsheet account for pre-EIP offers, or do firms not report those to OCS?

Thanks for this. In case anyone else runs into the same problem, Loverly was able to help me, and fast!Anonymous User wrote:I would contact the simplicity manager, Loverly Espinal. Its differences are the "permanent address" in CA and also the addition of "California Society" as a group. How bad is this? Should I try to get OCS to let me change it?
How CA-dominant is your resume?

About how many interviews would you say is too many? I'm getting close to 30 by adding regional markets, but was wondering if it might be too stressful, especially with five minute gaps in between.

I'd guess the returns start to diminish substantially on the 5th interview of the day. If you can do them all without burning out and jeopardizing the later ones, go ahead.Anonymous User wrote:About how many interviews would you say is too many? I added Skadden LA. I know someone who mass mailed Skadden NY and got a CB. Try mass mailing them. Sorry for taking it from you.jbagelboy wrote:was anyone able to add Skadden LA? was it ever available?

You should be able to get through at least 6-8 a day without much trouble.Anonymous User wrote:I'd guess the returns start to diminish substantially on the 5th interview of the day. Re: Columbia EIP 2014
I have 29 total, and have 10 the first day. It's not too bad, none are closer than 15 minutes apart. If there's a day when I can keep my energy up, it'll likely be the first one, too. I would've cut a couple but those 10 interviews are on the higher end of my preferred firms, so I really wanted to keep them.Tiago Splitter wrote:You should be able to get through at least 6-8 a day without much trouble.Anonymous User wrote:I'd guess the returns start to diminish substantially on the 5th interview of the day. 10 is a lot but in a couple months you guys are going to look back on this experience and smile about how you thought 10 interviews might be too many. The OCI process is scary and makes for some stressful moments but it's really the easiest part of this whole law school to legal career thing. You'll find that after a few screeners the nerves are gone and the struggle becomes finding ways to feign interest and seem excited about answering the same question for the 20th time.

What do people typically do between interviews? Do a lot of people make flash cards for their firms (with maybe their interviewer's very brief background, some specific points about the firm, etc.), or do most just try to hang out around the hotel or at the hospitality suites?

My only regret is that other people wanted to add the same interviews I wanted to add, and I had to triage.jbagelboy wrote:I added two interviews, and now I regret it because I can't cancel them and my schedule is a bit stuffed. Such is life.

Re: Columbia EIP 2014
I made a cheat sheet with some points about each firm on my list for that day which I could quickly grab from the padfolio. Flash cards also work just fine. If you don't have much time between interviews you can hit the hospitality suite or just sit on the chair outside the room and take a deep breath and review your notes. For longer breaks you can go down to the main floor which is basically a big staging area for CLS students. They have refreshments and places to put your stuff down, and the people from career services will be hanging around. For really long breaks you can just go home and come back, which I did a couple of times.

When we're visiting hospitality suites, should we drop off writing samples with the resume/transcript too, or just have a few on hand in case they ask for one?

Anyone ever have success canceling interviews after the cancellation period due to having accepted an offer?

Who do I address my cover letter to (for a firm I'm interviewing with at EIP) if I am not told who the interviewer will be? "Dear *Name," for example.

if sure, you should probably address it to the recruiting director. It's normally listed somewhere

OCS said printing resumes on resume paper is required. Is this for real?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
