1L summer job application apathy/encouragement thread Forum

The only other questions I'd say be ready for are along the lines of 'So where else are you interviewing?' 'Are you meeting with other firms in [this city]?' I have a feeling this generally only happens when they doubt you're actually interested in their firm because of really high grades that they seem to think make you a lock for better jobs elsewhere / lack of ties to the area / etc. I wasn't quite sure how to respond because I didn't want to show my hand or lie.. so I just skirted the question and focused on my interest in that firm. I'm not sure what other course of action would be better.

I got this yesterday from a firm in an area in which I have no ties. I used this opportunity to establish my desire to be in the area. I downplayed interest in other areas and stressed how I only interviewed with area firms.

How long a wait for CB/rejection? It's President's Day weekend....

I wasn't interesting enough to warrant listening to and won't get the job 2. even if I did get it, I have very little interest if this is how they are going to treat law clerks. I know lawyers think they are awesome, but, common'. They aren't that important.

I was supposed to be interviewing with 3, but one of them just never showed.

I have two of these for my CB, not too thrilled. One is with the top dog too (the first named partner in the firm) and an associate. Not sure how to approach this.

It turned out that the associate was a pretty little thing, and she spent the entire time fawning over the partner and flirting.

So I have a job offer at one of my top choices, and an interview at the other one. The one where I'm interviewing is totally fine with me splitting the summer if I get the job. I haven't asked the other place if they're okay with splitting the summer, but based on my prior communications, they won't care (I went in for an informational interview wearing a sports jersey and he offered me a job, unpaid of course, but still).

Accepted externship with federal magistrate judge today. Seems like a really good fit based on the interview, very excited about it.

1. State ACLU
2. Paid In-house counsel internship
3. Regional mid-sized firm
4. Biglaw SA in Asia office (very little money)

I have really average grades & no connections, so I have no idea how I got these offers.

to be fair, if he's in pittsburgh this is pretty standard. i interviewed at a V100 firm on a friday and saw several steelers hats w/ suits. a jersey isn't too far off tbh.
