Yeah, things seem to have gone well for the class a whole. Which makes it so crappy for the ones that did strike out like me. Decent grades (don't know ranks, 3.55), NY, 27 screeners, only 3 callbacks. Got one rejection already, the other 2 have not replied to me yet, but it's been more than a week. I am guessing those are rejections. I think I really fucking suck at interviews.

Which brings me to the more general point. Anyone have any idea/advice on what am I supposed to do? I did mail a little before OCI, but a combination of personal matters did not allow me much time and more mailing. Nothing from those firms as well. I am still mailing, but I have really low expectations. I don't have any ties to secondaries, still mailing those, but don't think I will get anything.

I don't want to drop out, because I am one of those few crazy people that actually wants to be a lawyer. But I have no earthly idea what I am supposed to do now.
Wow... 3.55 and only 3 CBs? Did you only bid for DC or something?
No, NYC. Which is why things like "NYC is an easy market" make me want to stab myself.

It seems this way every year. And then next semester you learn how many people got fucked at OCI. I'm still finding out about people who I thought were perfectly set up and grabbed a gig at OCI but who are, a year later, looking for a job. Shit happens. And it will certainly happen to some prospective students.

I'm facing a similar situation as previous posters - 3.5ish and only 2 callbacks, despite having bid NYC exclusively. It's just crazy to me that some people I know with very shitty grades and no impressive work experience got 5+ callbacks. Within my group of friends, one kid had a GPA somewhere in the low 3.2s, straight out of undergrad, and still managed to get 8 callbacks and multiple offers already. Wtf.

From my experience, mass-mailing secondaries you have ties to is much more fruitful than mailing larger markets. Because of the volume of mailings received at firms in primary markets and the fact that those firms usually fill their classes through OCI.

Anyone wanna share their stats (gpa, work experience, k/jd, etc.) and OCI results? Could be helpful to compile raw data for our class.

Template...

GPA
Work experience (K-JD?)
URM
Markets bid
# of OCI interviews
CBs
Offers

- 3.3, secondary journal, work experience that is interesting but not relevant.
- Bid mainly Chicago, and a couple firms in one secondary market I have ties to.
- 20 screeners at OCI, received 6 callbacks, turned down 1. So did 5 callbacks, 4 in Chicago.
- Have 3 offers so far (one at a V50 in Chicago), one post-cb rejection, and haven't heard yet from the 5th.
- Didn't do any mass mailing because I'm lazy, and was (rightly) confident that OCI would work out - I did not bid firms where I thought my GPA was too much of a reach and did a lot of researching/networking ahead of time, including 4-5 practice interviews.

Want to second this. With few exceptions, everyone I know here who really committed to the interview process already has an offer. Some of them have around a 3.0. The bad luck and misfortune can happen at any school. The consensus around campus is that we crushed it this year.

-3.5
-1 year work experience, only sort of relevant but pretty interesting
-no URM
-NYC
-24 interviews; 13 CBs
-7 offers

Median grades, irrelevant WE, bid all NY, contacted associates/SA at all screener firms, 0 offers.
I'm fortunate that my family has been very supportive. Hoping to land something in my home state.

GPA: 3.4
W/E: 2-3 yrs (interesting but not relevant)
URM: No
# of OCI Interviews: 24, mainly NYC
Massmail: applied to 7 through resume collect. No replies.
Callbacks: 10
Offers: 3 (2 V30, 1 V70)

For future OCI participants: I'm not good at interviewing at all, but I think I kind of made it up by heavily researching on the firms/interviewers. I received one V5 CB and that was probably because I knew something about the firm that the interviewer wasn't aware of. Didn't receive an offer, but oh well.

What firms have offer dinners this week? It would probably be safe to say that none of those firms will be handing out more offers...

Not necessarily--my summer firm is having an offer dinner I believe and also, I believe, intends to extend more offers.

Extending more offers to others that have had CBs but aren't necessarily invited to the dinner?

Yeah, I think so. Recruiting told us who they'd offered and that they were planning on offering more. I would assume most of those have already had CBs. That being said, I direct mailed my way into an offer at this firm well after their offer dinner last year.

Well it's true, when students in the top 1/3 to top 1/4 are striking out left and right even after biding mostly NYC (not to mention median students) after our grade increase and reduced class size it's pretty sad.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
