Hey is anyone else still waiting on post-OCI (screener, not CB) word?

Still are a few firms I haven't heard a word from, yay or nay.

In particular, has anyone heard from Alston & Bird NY? They said a week (this was the last week of OCI), and I haven't heard anything.

I moved at the end of OCI, and although I emailed all the screeners and/or firms about my change of address, I am wondering if my dings got lost in the mail...

You might never hear from some firms.

damn for real? i am assuming that the etiquette for sending an email reminding these firms that we interviewed 3 weeks ago is "don't", eh?

I don't think you have much to lose by following up. I would do it if it's been quite a while. Not sure what other people's opinions on that is.

I followed up with everyone I hadn't heard from. It resulted in getting a PDF'd ding letters emailed to me.

I know it seems late in the game, but don't lose hope yet. This week I got 1 CB from a firm I interviewed with the second day of OCI and another CB from a firm I interviewed with in July outside of OCI. Firm 1 said they've decided to increase class size. My guess is I was in the maybe pile for both firms. But yes, CB can happen this late.

I think if they wanted to give you a CB, you would have heard from them by now.

It certainly feels worse than I thought it would...I only know a handful of people well enough to know their status, I'd say something like 3 out of 5 are still looking/waiting/etc.

Is it really that terrible? I feel like I keep overhearing people in class talking about their Skadden and Kirkland callbacks... and how hard of a time they're having deciding which V50 firm they're going to pick.

I only know a few people here rude enough to do that. I think it's certainly true that there are a lot of people with multiple CBs/offers but I think we're in a real tale of two cities here. I know more people with 1 CB than I do with multiple.

I realize it's easy to be a bit Chicken Littler-sky is falling here, but casual browsing of the Mich and UChi OCI threads don't look great. It'll be interesting to see the objective numbers when they come out.

Guys... half my offers came in after this point when I did OCI, and I did my callbacks at fast-moving V25's in NYC and Chicago. Don't give up on a callback until 1 month+ afterwards.

That said, of course you need to keep hustling until you get an offer, even if you do have hope in hearing back from some callbacks. One of the worst strategies, though a common one, is to hustle a bit until you get an interview/callback, then do the interview/callback and pause hustling waiting to hear back. I don't care if you did 3 callbacks yesterday, you need to hustle until you have an offer in hand.

i don't think it's a rude thing, i think it's a human nature thing...i have a fine gpa but i'll find myself bumping it up half a point when i talk to classmates i'm very open with. HOWEVA, i definitely agree with the latter part here - i know way more people who are hustling at this point than those who are content.

I did mean offers, and I didn't mean to alarm you, though if you're being complacent, then you should be alarmed. I am just asking in preparation for the Town Hall tomorrow.

I'd love for someone to ask a semi-critical question, rather than just a bunch of sycophantic 1L's.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
