Ding from Milbank and Chadbourne today via email.
Anyone else get dinged by these places earlier? Trying to figure out if they're late or if there really is a hold.

I got an e-mail ding from Milbank either yesterday or the day before. I got a callback from Chadboure the day after the interview at OCI.Anonymous User wrote:Ding from Milbank and Chadbourne today via email.

Kramer Levin email rejection. Coming down the homestretch here. Only 6 stragglers left to go.

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
Though aside from the Kramer Levin ding, I was invited for a Brown Rudnick interview (pretty sure its just a screener) by dropping my resume with them even though I didn't get OCI interview, so at least that balances out the sting of rejection from what I thought was a real solid interview

Interesting, still haven't heard back from them so firms must still be considering.Anonymous User wrote:Kramer Levin email rejection. Coming down the homestretch here. Only 6 stragglers left to go.

I would like to think so. Of my 6 pending, I have some of my very top choices. I wish they would just make a decision one way or the other as to end the suffering.Anonymous User wrote:Interesting, still haven't heard back from them so firms must still be considering.Anonymous User wrote:Kramer Levin email rejection. Still waiting on:
Sidley
SullCrom
Davis Polk
Latham
Quinn Emanuel
One more that I don't really care about since it was an obligatory out-of-NY pick

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
I am also still waiting to hear either way after OCI from Davis Polk, Sidley and Sullivan & Cromwell. I am not holding out much hope at this point, but I am thinking that maybe because I have good grades but am not the best interviewer and my resume is a little PI-heavy I might be in the hold pile, especially at S&C where they are probably more selective about giving out callbacks because they have a high offer rate.Anonymous User wrote:I would like to think so. I think I read on this thread that some people have gotten dings from S&C (NY). Has anyone gotten a ding from them or from DPW or Sidley?

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
I guess so, though it seems pretty silly. If we're that close to being in the ballpark, why not just call us back and see if the second interview tilts the balance? It's no skin off their back; we're in NYC, so it won't cost anything except a couple hours of their time. I think being on "hold" for a local firm between the EIW and CB stages is bizarre.Anonymous User wrote:Interesting, still haven't heard back from them so firms must still be considering.Anonymous User wrote:Kramer Levin email rejection. Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
The whole process is bizarre. They really should almost draft people based on grades. The fact that they make decisions based on how you answer questions like "Why do you want to be a lawyer" for three hours is a bit crazy.Anonymous User wrote:I guess so, though it seems pretty silly. Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
I agree that its all quite illogical. If they don't want us, they should just reject us fast, and if not then just suck it up and have us in. You can have 1 student do 3 20 min interviews and be out in an hour, and call it a day. It would help the firm make a decision on those they are "holding" and allow the students to actual get out of purgatory.Anonymous User wrote:I guess so, though it seems pretty silly. My grades give me a moderate to weak chance at these firms. I am assuming dings, but is there any chance?

Since my Skadden rejection was mailed within 48 hours of the interview, either (A) they completely forgot to mail your ding [my guess: unlikely], or (B) they're still considering giving you a CB [my guess: far more likely].Anonymous User wrote:No word either way, from: (all NY)

In short: good news if your odds weren't good to begin with.
And I'd say that goes for everyone still fretting about EIW silence.

Re: NYU EIW Callback Nonsense (Consolidated)
Offers from DPW and STB, ding from PW after CB. Still have 5 cbs left to do and am waiting on a couple I've already done. Generally quite pleased. Little confused as to why PW (which has higher CB-->offer ratio) dinged, but oh well...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
