How do you feel your interviews have gone? Respectfully, you shouldn’t be getting too many dings with those stats. Did you do mock interviews with your career office?

How do you feel your interviews have gone? Respectfully, you shouldn’t be getting too many dings with those stats. Did you do mock interviews with your career office?

I did two mock interviews and they didn't flag anything other than "low energy" in the first one. Maybe that means "you seem weird/awful to work with." Same with the interviews themselves—I couldn't pinpoint anything disastrous.

Although at DPW two of the four interviewers started using language like "well wherever you end up working, xyz," so apparently I'm doing something to turn them off. This is despite having extremely strong reasons for wanting DPW specifically (know multiple associates, etc.)

Hmm it sounds like you’re probably not coming off the right way. Sometimes it helps to literally remind yourself to smile as you’re talking. I do that because normally I look pretty disinterested (even though I am happy to be there). In your next interview just try to force yourself to smile as much as you can (obviously don’t just grin ear to ear the entire time, but when you’re talking it’s pretty important, especially since you’ll probably raise your voice a little).

Kirkland NY folks - when did you apply/get CB invite? also, mind sharing approx stats?

I applied early June. Had a screening interview 7/2. A few hours after screening I got the invitation for a callback. Had the callback 7/15 (limited times to do it). Ranked first at a very low ranked school.

I wouldn't draw conclusions about interview skills based on one ding lol. Even two, if they get dinged from DPW (who are notorious for a low conversion from callback ratio).

I wouldn't read too much into the "wherever you end up working" rhetoric. I think most firms understand the game (especially young associates) and I've had assorted people say that line to me in interviews for firms that later gave me offers. I think it's an easy way for the interviewers to comment on your process/interests without getting shit for telegraphing an offer when a decision hasn't been made yet.
