Split about 50/50. Transfer from t50 school top 5%. no real ties to other markets.Anonymous User wrote:proportions of the split? grades? any ties to secondary markets that you can mail?Anonymous User wrote:New unlucky Anon. For those (unfortunately) sitting on 0 CBs who split NY with another market, mind if I ask which NY firms you interviewed with? I bid NY 100% with decent but not good great grades, so I might be able to steer you towards firms that you missed bidding that are still hiring.

Well, I'm a transfer so my grades are great but they aren't from U of C... Anyhow, if you have a list of NY firms that you know are still hiring I'm sure there are many of us who would appreciate the advice. Thanks!Anonymous User wrote:For those (unfortunately) sitting on 0 CBs who split NY with another market, mind if I ask which NY firms you interviewed with? How do you know which firms are still hiring? Only ask because now that OCI is over it would be from mass mail but I'm assuming people from tons of schools have been mass mailing. Have recruiters told you specifically that they're still looking?Anonymous User wrote:For those (unfortunately) sitting on 0 CBs who split NY with another market, mind if I ask which NY firms you interviewed with? Nah unfortunately purely conjecture/memory from movement this time last year. I know people that mass mailed S&C and Cravath with some success, but these were largely people who struck out in smaller markets and scrambled to get NYC. Other firms that I know have had back-loaded CB schedules, which to me says they're still in the meaty part of their recruiting process, includes Curtis Mallet, Milbank, Skadden. Beyond that, my advice is mass mail the guys with truly massive classes -- they tend to compete with each other, so they have lower yields. I don't know where it is on this forum, but also check out the Columbia CB/Offer data that their OCS puts out. You could search for firms that have low offer acceptance yields in the city; I think that's a sensible, quasi-objective way to read in between the lines.Anonymous User wrote:How do you know which firms are still hiring? Definitely all conjecture/anecdotes, but I figure it's better than nothing. Good luck all!

This is all good advice. But there's no reason to be heavily targeting at this point - apply to every firm in NY if you're sitting on zero CB's. You never know what will work out.Anonymous User wrote:Nah unfortunately purely conjecture/memory from movement this time last year. I got a screener from an NYC firm last year after being rejected at OCI by their Chicago office. No reason to be shy about applying; worst that happens is you get a rejection.
