Not sure approximate rank. Maybe top 20%. Secondary journal.

OCI screening interviews - 12
Callbacks from OCI - 2
Offers -1
Post-OCI screening interviews obtained by targeting alums - 4
Callbacks - 3
Offers - 2

Feel very very lucky. Many peers with similar stats struck out or are still waiting with no offers in hand.

Congrats, if you don't mind me asking did you have any kind of strategy to your bids?

MVPB Top 1/3
26 Screening
6 callbacks
1 offer, 4 dings, 1 withdraw
1 acceptance at one of BB/V&E/F&J in TX
Feeling very, very fortunate about the offer, especially since it's probably the firm I would have chosen even with offers from every single firm I saw (or even bid on) at OCI.

Seems like there are a lot of people on TLS who received a lot of rejections, very few offers (often just one), but were fortunate enough to have that offer come from a place they really like or even a firm that was their #1 coming into OCI. Congrats man, same to everyone else in a similar situation.

Yeah, it is kind of odd. I look forward to crushing all of the firms that rejected me in the courtroom/settlement negotiations/etc. (Yes, I know I won't be doing any of that stuff for god-knows-how-long, but the thought will keep me motivated.)

Final Results:

15 screening interviews
8 callbacks
4 offers

1 difficult decision. Finally this process is over and I think I made the right call on the place I chose. Turned down bigger name places for a place where I think I will be happier and has the practices I want and where I can build a career instead of be miserable for 2-3 years and then jump ship.

Stats: Georgetown, right at the top 1/3 mark, no journal, insane job last summer

Edit: the firm is still a V100 firm in NYC, but I said no to some sweatshops in the V25.

I'll add to the tally, in case next year's 2Ls feel like obsessing over our results (which will presumably be irrelevant by then). I'm convinced that this year is too crazy and unpredictable for this to be useful to fellow 2Ls who are job-searching, but I found it helpful to read all of your updates, so:

MVPB, ~top 20%, secondary journal
No WE pre-law
Looked in NYC/DC

20 OCI, a few scattered resume drops/mailings
6 CBs from OCI (1 V5, 1 V10, 1 V15, 2 V25, 1 V75)
1 CB from resume drop (V5)
6 dings, 1 offer

I'm joining the pattern someone mentioned above - the offer was from the V5 firm that I didn't do OCI with, and was also my favorite firm visit by far. Thanking my lucky stars, or whatever happened there.

Next year will probably be as bad or worse, unless the economy vastly improves.

how can it be as bad or worse when 2011 took the bullet for this mess.

B/c it is unclear if firms will need more associates next year.

For what it's worth, the impression I got from firms this year (based on candid interviewers as well as networking I've done) is that this summer class will get the worst of it, because there are far more people with start dates deferred to 2011 than 2012. The extremely small summer class this summer is expected to clear much--though not all--of the backlog, and they can simply no-offer C/O 2011 folks if they need to (horrifying thought, for us C/O 2011 folks.)

Now, if the economy gets worse or doesn't improve at all, 2012 folks could certainly get hit as hard as 2011 folks did (though I seriously doubt you could have it much worse, honestly). That said, if I was a C/O 2012 person, I would certainly be living in the law library.

Nice try, but no dice. 2012 is just as f*****. Firms have slashed these programs for good.

Nope, 2012 should be considerably better even if the economy is just as bad - they won't have nearly the deferral problem, or nearly as big a class behind them. 2012 might even be pretty good, if there is any economic improvement, since firms were very cautious this year. It's not like the legal market is much smaller than it used to be, it's just that for new hiring, the change in size is more important than the stock size, to a large degree.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
