For posterity, I'm also jumping on the "don't bid Chicago unless you have significant ties to the city itself or an amazing other reason to be there and nowhere else" bandwagon.

This. Was it just random numbers and letters? I am thinking it's their standard rejection letter with coding gone wrongAnonymous User wrote:anyone else get a weird email from Paul Hastings?

Just to provide another data point: ZERO ties to Chicago (or Midwest in general), slightly above median, nothing extraordinary, but garnered 2 CB (1 large, 1 mid-sized) from Chicago so far (out of 3 screeners). Sure, my interviewers were skeptical about my ties, but they liked that I did research the firms & practice areas & clientele, etc. NY is definitely easier all else being equal, but Chicago is not impossible.

You're arguing a straw man. Nobody said it was impossible let to get Chicago. It's just very very difficult. And given how you should be conservative during oci, unless you have very high grades or you were born and raised in Illinois, I would advise, at the very least, to not go all in on Chicago and to hedge your bets with a market that is easier to get I.e. New York.

Cool. Would really appreciate it if you would post an update with what they tell you (subject to whatever you feel comfortable saying). Can't be take time to call or email them now. Especially, in light of the fact that I am pretty sure I was rejected. My interviewer's cbs were out last weekAnonymous User wrote:Yes I got it and asked for clarification about next steps.Anonymous User wrote:This. Was it just random numbers and letters? Re: Michigan 2014 OCI Thread!!!!!!!
Got a rejection email from a NY firm saying they cannot offer me a callback, but would like me to apply next year for full-time employment. Is that any different from a standard rejection letter? A little weird, did not get emails like that from anyone else
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
