I just want to get an idea of what I should expect so I'm not checking my email every 5 minutes like a crazy person.

Got my OCI preliminary schedule today. Should I mass mail all of the firms I missed and tell them how bad I wanted to interview with them? Why doesn't everyone just do that then?

How should I word a follow up email with an updated resume that includes law review? Had to submit a resume before notifications were sent out.

That you recently applied and wanted to follow up and you are still interested in the firm and wanted to provide an updated resume.

This is tangential to your question, but fwiw, I found it incredibly helpful for these kinds of scenarios:

good luck

My grades are well below median at CCN so I'm thinking I don't include the transcript?

Was going to write something like

My name is blah and I am a rising 2L at CCN. I am very interested in your firm and your blah blah practice. Unfortunately I did not get an interview from the OCI lottery system even though X firm is one of my top choices. If you have additional slots during, or outside of OCI, I would love to speak to one of your attorneys. I have attached my resume and a cover letter. Please contact me if you have any additional questions.

Best,
X
I'm also interested in knowing this! (different anon, likely same school)

Currently mass mailing, and the recruiter contact on NALP no longer works for the firm. (Emailed, received auto-response.) The other two contact emails posted are hiring attorneys. Two of them. Is TCR to just pick one, or should I send a mass mail to both ?

Does the firm's website not list an updated contact?

When you're sending out mass mails, should you send a cold email to the firm's recruiter or an equally cold email to a partner who went to the same school as you?

Just got a response from a V30 saying to "please bid on [them]", and if I can't get an interview that way, to visit their hospitality suite during OCI to meet attorneys/drop off application materials. Response came in less than a week; now fruitlessly debating in my head whether the response was positive or wholly neutral. I can't wait for this fucking process to be over.

I was introduced to a recruiter at a firm through mutual connections/networking back in December. We had lunch, and it went really well. She invited me to attend an invite only cocktail reception for rising 2Ls. I was one of the only people there outside the t14 but it went really well. Met associates and partners and got a lot of "hope to see you in the fall!"
Anyway, I followed up with the initial contact/recruiter and she wants to get lunch tomorrow. However, I bid on this firm for OCI and didn't get a screener (I'm at a pre-select school).
Whats TCR for how to handle this? Should I mention it at lunch tomorrow somehow? Any advice would be much appreciated.

We have not yet begun the interview process for next year’s program. We will contact you again if there is an interest in scheduling an interview with you.

In the meantime, please accept our best wishes in the interview process.
Is this a ding, or just telling me to sit tight?

I think just to sit tight. I've gotten a couple of similar responses, with one of them saying to 'keep in touch' in the meantime. whatever the fuck that means

I've been addressing it to the recruiting contact. They're the one who reads it first and decides whether to even pass your info on. They may even be unilaterally making the decision to interview you. I don't get why everyone always advises people to try to bypass the recruiters. Firms literally employ these people for the sole purpose of finding lawyers to hire. The hiring attorney may have the final say after all is said and done, but the recruiter is your way in the door.

hate to bump this but lunch is in a few hours and I don't know what to do. Should I mention OCI and not having a screener, maybe try to ask for a pre-OCI interview while Im still in town? Should I not bring it up?

Really don't know what to do on this one.

I honestly would be surprised if she didn't ask you considering she knows what school you go to and that the firm goes to that school's OCI. I would bring it up regardless saying that you didn't get selected but are very interested. Can only help because your other option is to submit into the black hole that is mass mailing where you have such a low chance.

I mass mailed and I got an invitation to interview late Friday, replied with my available times on Saturday. It's been radio silent since. I have to leave the area in 5 days, so if it's not scheduled soon, I won't be able to interview.

How much longer should I wait and what's TCR for following up?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
